The DBA Gamer

Isengard

Roughly representing the forces of the White Hand at the end of the Third Age, during the War of the Ring. These figures are from Games Workshop’s line of figures inspired by the films. I draw more from the films than the books.

The Army arrayed. 1x Magician (Saruman), 1x Hero (Lurtz), 1x Behemoth (Troll), 2x Spear (pikers), 3x Blade, 1x Shooter (Uruk scouts with bows).

Saruman the White

Lurtz, my general.

A Cave Troll. It’s not canonical, but it’s all I have right now.

Uruk scout bowmen.

Uruk Spear

Uruk Hai blades

    Excellent Mike, well done.
I agree on your point that the films are better inspiration. The Orcs are more savage & brutal. I loved the Ralph Bakshir cartoon for many years, but his Orcs look very ‘tame’ compared to the films.

Nice! I particularly like the Saruman…although the Orcs do look excatly like the films. Great job!

Thanks Mike. When I started painting the Uruks, I used metallics and thought it was too shiny. When I looked at some pictures for reference, the armor was unpolished and grey. So I just painted a grey base-coat, gave it a liberal black-wash and went back over it with grey.
